If you follow this site, there is no way you haven’t yet heard about Chicago & Minneapolis based trio ON AN ON. I talk about this band constantly, but I really can’t help it. I feel its my duty to pass along great music, and for this band it has been incredibly easy to do so. Hearing “Ghosts” for the first time last August really caught my ear. Following that with “The Hunter” in November, made me want to dive right into the entire Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals) produced record “Give In”. Since getting my hands on the full-length, its been in constant rotation and I can honestly say I have 8 favourite songs on the record.
If I had been in Austin for SXSW, I would have made my way to see this band that Time Magazine said were one of 9 bands to see at the festival. Lucky me though, the band are coming to Toronto for a show at the Drake, April 12th with Brooklyn fantasy-pop duo, SAVOIR ADORE.
Courtesy of Live Nation, I’ve got one pair of tickets to give away for the show. There are two ways to enter. Either email me at chris AT indiemusicfilter.com with “ON AN ON” in the subject line with your full name in the body.
Or, RT my tweet about the contest. Each way enters your name into the draw. Also, this is a 19+ show.
Deadline is Thursday, April 11th at noon (EST). I’ll notify the winner that day.
I’m predicting this track goes to #1 on hypemachine.
Check out one of my favourite songs of the last couple of months called “The Hunter” by Chicago and Minneapolis based trio ON AN ON. The song follows up the incredibly well received debut single “Ghosts” off the forthcoming January 29, 2013 release of Give In (via Roll Call Records).
The band (made up of Nate Eiesland, Alissa Ricci, and Ryne Estwing) had played music with one another in various capacities for the better part of a decade before collaborating together as a trio. The culmination of a long and precarious, but ultimately rewarding journey, Give In was recorded with producer Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals). Look for the band closing out 2012 with a string of dates across the midwest, National 2013 to be announced soon. Hopefully a Canadian date or two in there?
Check out “The Hunter”.
