There’s no slowing down with great new music in 2016, with February putting up a strong answer to what was an incredible January. Take a listen to some new music from Gypsy & The Cat, Bravestation, Phoria, Miike Snow along with IMF newcomers Diskopunk and Coast Modern.
Something for everyone.

I’m so stoked to premiere brand new music from Toronto band Bravestation on the blog today. As you can tell from my years covering the band, I’m big fan of the group and truly believe they’re a hidden gem in our overcrowded music industry.
The trio will be releasing their first single of 2016 tomorrow and will be celebrating with a single release party at the Gladstone Hotel that night. “Amadeus”, which I’ve got an exclusive advance stream of (below), is just the first of four new tracks to be released this year, demonstrating a bolder, bigger sound than previous albums.
Check it out (for fans of St. Lucia, Young Empires).
About Bravestation:
Brothers Devin and Derek Wilson formed Bravestation with childhood friend Jeremy Rossetti in the City of the 1000 Islands before relocating to Toronto. Their name is merged from the titles of Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel Brave New World and Robert J. Hasting’s inspirational essay The Station.
With influences ranging from 80s new wave to electronic dance music, post-punk and rock, the band channels sounds from the past and visions of the future to create their own version of dream-like pop.
Hey kids,
The year is coming to a close and I’m sitting here looking back on another year of blogging; another year of so many great tunes.
It’s always a challenge to try and sum up your year in one playlist. Here’s my best attempt, with my favourite songs of 2015 (via Soundcloud, Spotify, Youtube and new streaming site Playmoss). In my playlist I feature the likes of Leon Bridges, Day Wave, Big Data, Jack Garratt, Steven. A Clark, and many more.
*Note: This is not meant to be a Top 50 list where #1 is my favourite song. I love them all the same, plus the songs had to go in some order.
Signing off for 2015,
Chris

Have you seen the latest video from Toronto trio Bravestation? “Actors” (off the album V from Culvert Music) was directed by Dan LeMoyne and produced by Travis Richel at The Field, and is a great visual companion to a pretty successful song for the band (it charted in the Top 20 on CBC, earning heavy rotation on Toronto’s Indie 88 and securing features on The Edge and 95.4 The Peak).
“Actors is a song about love, fear and hope, told through a surrealist lens,” explains lead vocalist Devin Wilson. Continuing the sentiment, LeMoyne states, “The video is about finding something real and true in an artificial world and how we all have to become actors, or performers in our own lives.”
Bravestation is celebrating the end of an amazing year with some of the city’s best at the Culvert Music Holiday Party on December 3rd at the Drake Hotel. In 2016, fans can expect to hear more new music from the band. Having spent the fall hard at work in the studio, Bravestation is gearing up for an LP release early next year.
