Check out the video for “Coffee” by Sylvan Esso, directed by Dan Huiting. Filled with swirling colors to match the song’s eclectic beats, we are taken from an Appalachian contra-dance, to a proper Durham, NC house party, and finally to a 1950s-era sock-hop that explodes with a sexy, synchronized dance routine drenched in neon.
If this track were actually a cup of delicious brewed coffee, I wouldn’t mind waking up to it every single morning. Like caffeine, I’d take one giant sip and let the raw energy of it all just fuel the rest of my day.
The collaboration of Amelia Meath from the folk trio Mountain Man and bassist Nick Sanborn from Megafaun make up Sylvan Esso, the latest obsession. They’ll be releasing this track via Partisan Records on 25th March, but until then we’ve found some other visual goodies that will possibly make you want to turn that ‘sip’ into an intravenous drip. Initially you could you hear their synchronicity on the production, but now watching it live you see the duo approach the song and stage as if all formula’s of a well intended collaboration were destined to come together quite brilliantly.
Stream the track below and get a little taste of the duo recorded live at the Wilderness Bureau.
