doubt/hope

Its Saturday and I’m in the office. Granted, its not a ton of work I’ve gotta do, but its taking some time to get it done. Been listening to a catalog of songs that I represent and trying to see which ones sound close enough to JUSTICE, YYY’s, Interpol and Bloc Party.

I shouldn’t be complaining, it seems quite a lot better than this job.

Been taking breaks to clean out my Indie Music Filter e-mail (as well as update the mobile site). Remembered getting a track by Wildbirds and Peacedrums, a Swedish duo who forge spiritual pop, primal blues and ecstatic soul. Wildbirds and Peacedrums are charismatic singer Mariam Wallentin and drummer Andrea Werliin. I’ve got I Can Tell In His Eyes streaming right now from their myspace page.

Here I’ll give you Doubt/Hope. Just vocals, drums and hand claps. I can’t quite figure out who commands more, Mariam or the pounding drums. Consider this track slightly outside of what you’d normally expect to hear on this site, but moving and inspirational.
