Feel Phoria

You know those moments in life when art touches you so deeply and you have so many emotions running through you at the same time that you can’t even put it into words properly and you just babble like a crazy person?  I had that last night, after Phoria finished playing their “Display” EP launch in London, at the beautiful St Pancras Old Church, with a string quartet.  After the show, still in shock, I tried to tell Trewin Howard, Phoria‘s vocalist, how much I loved it, but all that I could do was utter ridiculous sounds.  I had goosebumps for an hour after I left the venue.  I still do whenever I remember the gig.  That’s how good it was.  I don’t care what happens in the next 6 months: Phoria are already my favourite act of the year.

Yesterday was also the day Phoria released a new single called “Efforttobreathe”, where gentle humming, rhythm and melodies create a sensual and intense atmosphere that is almost tangible.  As they do so well.

Phoria‘s work IS sensual and intense.  And it is spiritual.  Almost religious.  I have converted.
