FWBA + Invisible Children present The Silver Series

This past march, Invisible Children and Friends With Both Arms undertook an ambitious goal to film 25 bans while in Austin for SXSW. “The Silver Series” campaign serves as a platform for established, as well as up-and-coming artists to use their music as a tool for education and awareness. They aimed to present artists in unconventional spaces; from tree tops to empty swimming pools- filmed by the Invisible Children art team. The preliminary artists featured include Guards, Sun Airway, Mutual Benefit, Memoryhouse, Jeremy Messersmith, Spirit Family Reunion, Jesse Woods and Bahamas. They’re also proud to partner alongside longtime supporters, La Blogotheque for selected “Takeaway Shows” with Maps & Atlases and Vandaveer.

Here’s a couple of my favourites, Memoryhouse performing “Lately” and a different take on Sun Airway‘s “Put The Days Away”. Enjoy.

Invisible Children Holiday Benefit

A holiday benefit show at the Troubadour on Dec. 20th called the Invisible Children Holiday Benefit, presented by KCRW radio, curated and filmed by Yourstru.ly with support from Los Angeles music blog, Rollo & Grady. This will be the first official performance of an unreal secret headliner; plus performances by Mountain Man and Guards, with a special Deertick acoustic set performed by John McCauley. The evening will include limited edition show posters designed by Florencio Zavala, the former creative director at Shepard Fairey Studio Number One. All proceeds will go towards Invisible Childrens programs to help the war-affected people of East Africa. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Troubadours website.
