In the “band to watch” part of my brain. Last year we gave you a bunch of incarnations of this Oxford trio’s killer intro “Microlite”, now they’re back with a new single to be released Feb. 28th on Moshi Moshi.

2010 was a great year for Trophy Wife, great support slots with Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club, appearances on best of 2010 lists along with spots on the Hype Machine charts. The band head off on tour with Esben and the Witch in the UK from Jan 29th.

As you’ve seen in recent posts, I’ve become a bit of a Trophy Wife fan. First there was the song “Microlite”, then the video, now the acoustic version. Totally dig this song. The band tour with Foals at the beginning of November, alongside Crystal Fighters and Toro Y Moi, and have just been confirmed as support to Bombay Bicycle Club at The Troxy in London on Dec 5th.

“Microlite” by Trophy Wife. The Oxford trio (who we tipped here) and their”ambitionless office disco” (their words not mine) will release their debut single ‘Microlite’ through Moshi Moshi on Nov 8th. Look for them on tour with Foals at the beginning of November.

Trophy Wife are an Oxford trio cornering the market on “sparse melodies, melancholic beats and lush, echoing vocals”. They are about to release their debut single “Microlite” on Nov. 8th through Moshi Moshi, with a b-side “Take This Night”. Microlite tells the story about an everlasting journey: one by which you never arrive at a destination, but that somehow becomes perpetually fulfilling.

Kind of like writing about bands on this blog.
