Elevate
Another great shot at 2013’s summer song. “Elevate” from St. Lucia’s debut album When The Night (out Oct. 8th via Neon Gold/Columbia). Grab the single on itunes here.
Phebe Starr has my ears at the moment, from being introduced to her today by a post on Neon Gold. She’s a pop starlet from Australia with a debut single called “Alone With You”. For fans of Lykke Li and Sia, listen for those drums to kick in.
Take a listen to “Alone With You” below. Grab the track at Neon Gold.
Friday afternoons’ soundtrack goes to St. Lucia‘s track “We Got It Wrong”, from the digital EP due to drop next week via Neon Gold. This is my friday celebration song for almost fixing all my web issues, getting close to back on track, making this new site my own and finally starting a well deserved weekend.
Grab the mp3 at Neon Gold. Watch the video below.

I am currently in the middle part of summer where its impossible to stay on task and get all my work done. Well, at least it feels that way. Hope you dig the links/videos/songs below.
Btw, what ever happened to my summer mix?
—————————————————-
Paradise Animals is multi-instrumentalist Mark Andrade and his dark synth-pop diversion from his main duties in the band Green Go. Unlike the poppier/dancier stuff I’ve used to hearing from his camp, the first single “At This Time” really makes me agree with the provided comparison “think Leonard Cohen fronting Twin Shadow“. Here’s the video from “At This Time”, available as a 7″, with atmospheric b-side “Compliance”, both available for free at bandcamp. Look for the EP in the fall.

Generationals are running a remix contest via Rdio here for the songs “Ten-Twenty-Ten” and “Greenleaf“. Winners will receive a free 3-month subscription to Rdio, an Rdio Tote Bag, and a Park The Van Music Bundle.
I’m one to always want to remix songs, but I don’t really have the ability to pull it off. I’ll just sit here cueing falsetto tracks…..

Putting Papa on my radar (via Neon Gold), the brainchild of Girls‘ drummer Darren Weiss. Head there to grab the lead single “Halloween To Me“. Sounds like Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade) fronting the Walkmen.

Here’s a video behind the scenes of the Arkells video “Whistleblower”. Don’t worry, its not really a pyramid scheme.

Quite enjoying TV Girl‘s Benny and the Jets four song EP over at the Blue Walrus. “Smooth 60s soul influenced summer jams that should be the soundtrack to your sunshine”, grab it for free here.
Hopefully, with the arrival of sunshine here, you’re looking for a new mixtape to soundtrack it. I recommend A Blogwave Summer (Volume 2), over at Dailybeatz.com. The compilation is to celebrate the 2nd birthday of whats becoming one of my go-to blogs and the mix features songs from a slew of awesome new bands, each track picked by other music bloggers I follow in my feed.
Head to Dailybeatz to download the mix, it features Cults, Jamaica, Oregon Bike Trails, The Naked & Famous, Two Door Cinema Club among many others.
also, while I’ve got your running around the blogosphere, I recommend The Kill Van Kulls remix of Icona Pop’s “Manners” at Neon Gold and SposhRock’s remix of the new Washed Out track Eyes Be Closed at Indie Shuffle.
Good day for music.
