Broken Social Scene’s Charles Spearin and his Happiness Project

This could be the most interesting record I buy in 2009. Charles Spearin (of Broken Social Scene, Do Make Say Think, KC Accidental) will be releasing an album (Feb. ’09, Arts and Crafts) called The Happiness Project. It will not sound like anything you have in your collection. Its a series of interviews with his neighbors based loosely around their concepts of what happiness is. With music. The audio footage was analyzed by meaning and melody; Spearin then blurred the line between speaking and singing by writing music around the dialogue, accentuating the ‘accidental melodies’.

You’re going to have to hear what I’m talking about. Head to Charles’s myspace page, or better yet, head here to download the song (interview?) Anna.
