The xx today release the video for “Say Something Loving.” Filmed in the band’s hometown of London, the video was directed by renowned photographer and filmmaker Alasdair McLellan, who also directed the video for previous single “On Hold” (which was shot in Marfa, Texas). “Say Something Loving” is taken from The xx’s hugely acclaimed third album I See You, which debuted at #1 in the UK and #2 in the U.S. album charts on release in January.
Of the video, The xx say, “We wanted to celebrate our home town and revisit some of the places that reminds us of our friendship when we were growing up. We’re so happy to be back home and so excited to begin our Night + Day residency in Brixton this week!”
Take a listen to the latest track from the xx (“Say Something Loving”) from the forthcoming album I See You, available January 13th 2017. I See You marks a new era for Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith, both sonically and in terms of process. For while xx and Coexist were both made in relative isolation in London, I See You was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York, Marfa TX, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London, and is characterized by a more outward-looking, open and expansive approach. Produced by Jamie Smith and Rodaidh McDonald, I See You is The xx at their boldest yet, performing with more clarity and ambition than ever before.
