Shut the box

Its all the rage up here at my cottage. And a pretty fun game to go along with afternoon Caesars, walking the dog, quick trips to Fenelon Falls and a roaring fire in the fireplace.

I’m checking back in here, but I wouldn’t consider myself back into blogging swing of things. Think I’ll leave the mobile site until the new year with a couple updates here and there on the main site. Sound good? I know at this point you’re itching to get away from the family, but hang in there. See you in 2009.

Meanwhile, if you get a chance, here’s what I really loved listening to today.

-My Moon My Man by Feist (Grizzly Bear remix). From You Ain’t No Picasso, its a song off Feist‘s deluxe reissue of The Reminder.

-Lykke Li doing a cover of Kings Of Leon with Knocked Up from My Old Kentucky Blog.

M.A.G.I.C. by The Sound Of Arrows

Who : The Sound of Arrows from Stockholm.

What : It’s refreshing to hear a children’s choir not singing a Christmas song. All the way from Sweden, here’s a new song from duo The Sound Of Arrows who assembled a choir, a singer from Tokyo and a slew of un-cleared samples to make this song. In my other line of work, I’d run far far away from this song. But today? I’m going to let its poppiness infiltrate my ears. Makes me think of the Justice singers spelling D.A.N.C.E .

Song : M.A.G.I.C .

On Repeat: Marina and the Diamonds

As I sit here trying to remember if I’ve found a Christmas gift for everyone in my family, I’ve got Marina and the Diamonds playing in the background. She’s described as ‘a fiery combination of Greek and Welsh who spends her time between songwriting, hand-creating merchandise and selling vintage clothing’. She’s got a double A-side 7″ (Obsessions/Mowgli’s Road) coming out on Valentine’s day that will tie you over until she puts out her debut full-length. Here’s the song Obsessions (from Neon Gold Beat Company). Here’s the video. Enjoy.

First Love (Remot Remix f/ Naledge) by Adele

What : A great mashup disc you’ve gotta take a listen to. Mick Boogie and friends took Adele ‘s critically acclaimed record 19 and added two 8’s on the end of it, remixing a pop record with the hip-hop sensibilities of the late 80’s. Think I’ll mix this into a Christmas party tonight….

Song : First Love (Remot Remix f/ Naledge) . Probably the coolest you can make a toy piano song sound. Download the entire mix here .
