Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits) has been busy with his band Operators. Since the release of their debut album, Blue Wave, via Last Gang Records on April 1st, the band has been touring in between his dates with Wolf Parade. This fall, Boeckner is bringing Operators to Europe for an extensive tour run, which will see a return to many beloved eastern European cities he hasn’t been to since Handsome Furs.
The latest offering from Blue Wave is “Control” (Single), out October 7th.

March is statistically such a great time for new music, as you can tell by the size of this months’ group. I had to trim a few from the list, but what’s left, is the cream of the crop from the blogs last month. Tons of new discoveries including Romes, WILDES, Rostam, Teleman plus new tracks from IMF faves Anna Of The North, M83, Oyster Kids, Still Parade and Great Good Fine OK.

Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits) has recently announced the debut album for his band Operators, titled Blue Wave, out worldwide April 1st on Last Gang Records. We got to hear the first single “Cold Light”, now we can add the “icy soul/kraut rock jam” title track, “Blue Wave”.
Formed in 2013, the band features Boeckner on vocals, guitar, and synths and is joined by New Bomb Turks and Divine Fits drummer Sam Brown and Devojka on analog hardware. Produced by Graham Walsh (METZ, Alvvays, Viet Cong), much of Blue Wave was recorded in a middle of nowhere 1850s-vintage barn in southern Ontario.
Having just wrapped up a Canadian tour, Operators will be on the road this Spring, having previously announced North American dates in March and April, followed by back-to-back nights in Havana, Cuba at La Fábrica de Arte Cubano (F.A.B.).
