Ever wonder what a colour would sound like? The people at Sound of Color might have figured that out. They took five musicians/bands (Dntel, Marie Digby, Swizz Beatz, The Raveonettes, The Blakes) and had them record songs specifically on a certain colour. From there, five cutting edge directors were brought on board to create videos based on those songs. Check out the Blakes doing blue, a bittersweet loves song called Magic. Sounds like the Kinks, quite quieter from what I’m normally used to for these guys. Solid effort though. As well, The Raveonettes video is pretty cool.Head over to Sound of Color and download all five tracks.

On and off for the past couple of weeks, I’ve opened a new tab and run the myspace audio player from Frightened Rabbits’ myspace page. It was Head Rolls Off that hooked me, often getting played 3-4 times consecutively on my computer speakers.
It will be the first single off The Midnight Organ Fight (FatCat), out on April 15th. Apparently, the new record ‘maintains its predecessor’s unpretentious universality yet adds an un-scraggly grandiosity that was mostly absent from the debut’.
Can’t wait.
Hope I can get some people to see them play at SXSW this year. Last year at Hot Freaks they were great.
Update your notes, the band formerly known as Charlemagne are now called Arkells. Check out Oh, The Boss Is Coming on MTV live. Their EP is available now on Dine Alone Records.

I was going through my e-mails the other day and I found one from Angie Correa. The e-mail was work related and had to do with a song by her getting on there. Since our communication over a year ago, Angie’s been Correatown, busy getting big in the industry we call music.
Her sound is a mix of indie and folk with a soothing, haunting voice. She just released and EP called Echoes, buy it on iTunes here. Head to her myspace to grab Green Cotton Dress. As well, Angie lent her voice to Jenna Fischer in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. Check out the video below.
Pretty cool, look forward to seeing her at SXSW next month.
