Head over to Stereogum to download Hayden’s new song Where and When of the upcoming 5th full-length Field & Town.I’m really glad to hear he’s putting out another record, its been a while since Elk Lake Serenade (2004) and even longer since then. Head here for details.
If you’ve never come across Madrid while searching for electronic bands in the vein of Boards of Canada or Air, then here’s your introduction. Meet Duncan Christie and Adam Perry, the main songwriters behind the Toronto based group. Its been a couple years since their last release (Warm Waters), the band has now readied a new EP (First Message), a new video (see below) and a little bit of buzz to get things going again. Recently, the band played opening slots for Ulrich Schnauss and UNKLE.
Off the new EP, check out an Ulrich Schnauss remix of Out To Sea. But before I finish, let me point you towards my favorite Madrid song, Crystallic. Look for it on the bands’ full-length next year.
If you live in Toronto, put this show on the calendar. Should be a great one.

Caught up this weekend on all the blogs I watch when I have the time. I think it was Dodge here who turned me onto The Deadly Syndrome, so I grabbed a couple tracks and I’ve been liking them quite a bit.
For fans of CYHSY or Born Ruffians, these guys hail from the Silverlake scene in LA. Their debut LP (The Ortolan) is currently out on Dim Mak.
Check out Eucalyptus.
Here’s footage of them on Indie 103.1, Wolves in the Garden.

Finally, a Toronto screening of this.
“On Friday, November 23rd, the newly renovated Royal Theatre on College St. will show a screening of Sigur Ros‘ new concert film/documentary Heima. Meaning “at home” and shot over a series of acoustic chamber performances and outdoor shows in Iceland, the footage alone looks incredible.”
Tickets at Soundscapes.
