I’ve got this one stuck in my head…
Have you heard Hot Chip‘s remix of Matthew Dear‘s song Don and Sherri? I find it quite addictive.

Head to I (heart) Music to see who was voted in the top 33 hottest bands in Canada (hottest meaning as best, most hyped or most popular. interpretation was up to the voter). A big list of bloggers, writers and music industry people who are keeping an eye on whats going on.
Here’s what I sent in.
1) Caribou
2) The Arcade Fire
3) Patrick Watson
4) Miracle Fortress
5) Wintersleep
6) Sunset Rubdown
7) Basia Bulat
8 ) Kevin Drew (**only choice of mine that didn’t make the top 33)
9) Handsome Furs
10) Besnard Lakes
I always find it hard to make a list like this every year because inevitably I forget a couple names. ie. I forgot the #1 choice, you know, that girl from the ipod commercial?
A lot of videos are getting posted on the site these days. Thats because I’ve recently installed a plugin that allows me to embed video. I find myself strangely excited about this…
Check out the video for Houseclouds by Liars, the 2nd single off the bands self-titled release. Does anyone hear something Beck-esque in there?

Liars are a three-piece band from LA made up of Angus Andrew (vocals/guitar), Aaron Hemphill (percussion, guitar, synth), and Julian Gross (drums). Liars is their 4th full-length release (recorded in Berlin and LA and mixed in London by Erasure and Depeche Mode producer Gareth Jones). Although I know little of their previous recordings, I’m really liking what I’ve heard so far. This band will be another one of those situations where I’m planning on going back and listening, hearing how it all came along.
Here’s the video for The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack off Drums Not Dead (2006). Download it here.

A little while ago I wrote about Wintersleep‘s new record Welcome To The Night Sky. As I keep listening, I thinking it will make my best of 2007 list for sure. Here’s the brand spanking new video for the catchy ‘Weighty Ghost’.
