LISTEN: “Believe Me” by Lilla Vargen

Lilla Vargen opens her 2018 account with the striking ‘Believe Me’, an intimate, honest torch song that builds to a memorable coda. It was written by the emerging Northern Irish talent over the course of last year, and produced in West Cork by Nick Rayner.

Lilla on ‘Believe Me’: “It was inspired by a friendship that was quite complicated. I let that person down before and I was determined not to do it again. The only way I could explain myself, to let them know I was ready to let my guard down, was to put my words down on paper, and post the letter.”

It follows her debut EP, ‘Hold On’, released in October 2017, which featured the title track and a cover of Majical Cloudz ‘Downtown’. The three-tracker has racked-up over two million Spotify plays, and was tipped by Radio 1, KCRW, Mahogany, Nialler9, Majestic Casual and more, with ‘Downtown’ popping up in James Bay’s personal playlist on Spotify.
