VIDEO: “Montreal” by David Beckingham

Hey Ocean!’s David Beckingham, released his beautiful, understated debut solo album Just When The Light in Canada in mid-2016. Since then, the LP found a German release via Greywood Records in December of 2017 – around the same time that David played Massey Hall, opening for Emily Haines + The Soft Skeleton. David spent the first three months of 2018 touring throughout Germany, Austria, and playing shows in London and Paris all the while channeling new ideas and concepts for his next solo album.

Today, we have a video for the poetic and thoughtful “Montreal” off Just When The Light. Directed by Mike Palmer of Roaming Focus and captured during extended stays in Toronto, Vancouver and of course, Montreal over the last half of 2017. The song and video examine “the realities of being tired of living in a place where you can only see the negatives,” says David. “Rather than working to shift your focus to the positive things, you look to a new city to fix the dissatisfaction. In the end though, every city has rainy days.”
