Introducing: Boxed In

Oli Bayston’s new project Boxed In and his first release ‘All Your Love Is Gone’, is his official solo debut. Via an all time favourite of ours, Moshi Moshi Singles Club (who just gave us Teleman and Nothankyou). If this song is anything to go by, this surely aint his first rodeo, kids. This here Londonder fuses influential elements from East India Youth into an ascending surge of amplified and noteworthy textures. It cultivates a catchy tempo, most probably caused by Dan Carey (previous work: Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand) who produced the track.
The backstory for his new found ‘handle’ – Boxed In, so fittingly stems from the artist Francis Bacon’s Head VI painting. It displays a wide, gaping mouth amongst a violet hue. Here, Oli was inspired by it after the piece had once been referred to as ‘the operation through which the entire body escapes through the mouth’, he relates, because for him, it alludes to singing.
