LISTEN: “Read My Mind” by David Bazan (Killers Cover)

I’m way late in hearing about Polyvinyl’s 4-Track Singles Series, which is nearing completion on Vol. 2.  A very unique and collaborative concept, label mails their favourite artists a Tascam 4-track, ask them to record whatever they want, then they send it off to the next artist. Proving you never really know what you’re going to get,  David Bazan decided to do something particularly awesome with it – record a cover of The Killers’ “Read My Mind.”

Usually, songs recorded for our 4-Track Singles Series are never shared publicly, only those who subscribe to the series have access to the limited edition 7″s + digital files.  Polyvinyl thought they’d make an exception this time.

In addition to David Bazan, Vol. 2 features Telekinesis, Crooked Fingers, Deerhoof, Ducktails, of Montreal, Skylar Spence, Jonathan Rado (Foxygen), The Dodos, Jacco Gardner, Kishi Bashi, and Blikk Fang (MGMT‘s Andrew VanWyngarden & of Montreal‘s Kevin Barnes). Each 7″ comes on limited edition colored vinyl with art from the one-and-only Jesse LeDoux.
