English electronic duo Futurecop! have always amazed me by creating nostalgic music that makes me yearn for memories that I’ve never experienced. “Eyes“, featuring Toronto indie-pop artist Lyon, is an ambrosial hymn of romance meant for summer stargazing.
“Eyes” is a dropping of much of the Casio-synth schtick that made their past releases so identifiable, but the fresher loops and piano riffs keep with their trademark rhythmic melody. The nostalgia hasn’t gone anywhere – it’s just moved to a different season.
Futurecop!‘s next release, “Fairytales of Summer Shoegazers“, will be out this summer, just in time to be the soundtrack to memories that actually exist.
“Ends Of The Earth” by Lord Huron, from the album Lonesome Dreams. Director Kevin Donelan spins a silhouetted tale of an outlaw’s lost love on the railroads.
