Sync/Master: A clever pun or post series on music in tv/film by the people in tv/film?

We’re going to try something new here on the site. If you follow what I’ve been writing here for the last 3 years, you would have seen me occasionally mention my day job (Bearsuit Publishing). I pitch songs and artists to Music Supervisors (these days being touted as ‘..the new A&R’), aiming to license music to television, film, ads and video games. These Music Supervisors have to filter through a ton of music to find those perfect songs that fit the picture sonically, lyrically and will stay within the productions’ budget. Sounds easy? Not really. The job is challenging and fast-paced. Every supervisor I know works crazy long hours.

So what does this have to do with Indie Music Filter? Well, I thought it would be a great idea to get their angle on the music I’m writing here about.

We’re just putting a post together with feedback from David Hayman of Toronto’s Vapor Music. Stay tuned.
