Attention iPhone/iTouch users: Take your music blogs with you

I used to use a rss reader to follow my blogs when I wasn’t at my computer and had a wifi connection for my iTouch. It didn’t work the greatest for me. Anytime I followed a link to an mp3 that I wanted to hear, it opened another window and I was taken away from the article/page. Recently, I found a solution for this and a great app for watching your favorite music blogs.

Its called I Heart New Music (not to be confused with Matt’s Blog). I’d basically describe it as a browser with similar built in functions that Songbird has. You can surf to you favorite blog and read all the articles. Then, by pressing the ‘Tunes’ tab at the bottom, the application strips out all the html/php/etc and lists all the mp3 files that contained in that webpage. Conceivably, one could quickly listen to all the songs on a blog, then go back and read about the artists that sounded good to them. The app comes built in with tons of bookmarks to the hottest music blogs out there, broken down by genre when possible.

We’re liking it a lot and excited to know that Indie Music Filter – Mobile will make it into the next version of the application. If you have a minute, check out the demo video here.

Important Note for iPhone/iTouch users

You might remember a little while back when I created another version of this blog called Indie Music Filter Mobile (I think it’s coming up on a year now actually). It’s a blog feed that is optimized for viewing on the iPhone/iTouch, which posts are fed into my main site (www.indiemusicfilter.com). Apple liked it and we’ve still been writing there just about every day.

Well, I just learned a cool trick today to add this site to your iPhone/iTouch Home Screen. Here’s how to do it.

1) On your iPhone/iTouch browse to www.mobile.indiemusicfilter.com.

2) Then tap the plus (+) sign on your browser, then hit ‘Add To Home Screen’.

3) Click ‘Add’ on the upper right corner (you can change the text for the site name to something shorter like ‘IMF Mobile’ if you like).

4) Voila! See below. It won’t look different than any app you might get in the iTunes store, its essentially just a icon with a bookmark. I thought it was pretty cool though.

This went up yesterday. Noticed a spike in the traffic too… Again, if you’ve got one of these iPhone/iTouch thingys, bookmark the mobile page.
