I am currently in the middle part of summer where its impossible to stay on task and get all my work done. Well, at least it feels that way. Hope you dig the links/videos/songs below.
Btw, what ever happened to my summer mix?
—————————————————-
Paradise Animals is multi-instrumentalist Mark Andrade and his dark synth-pop diversion from his main duties in the band Green Go. Unlike the poppier/dancier stuff I’ve used to hearing from his camp, the first single “At This Time” really makes me agree with the provided comparison “think Leonard Cohen fronting Twin Shadow“. Here’s the video from “At This Time”, available as a 7″, with atmospheric b-side “Compliance”, both available for free at bandcamp. Look for the EP in the fall.

Generationals are running a remix contest via Rdio here for the songs “Ten-Twenty-Ten” and “Greenleaf“. Winners will receive a free 3-month subscription to Rdio, an Rdio Tote Bag, and a Park The Van Music Bundle.
I’m one to always want to remix songs, but I don’t really have the ability to pull it off. I’ll just sit here cueing falsetto tracks…..

Putting Papa on my radar (via Neon Gold), the brainchild of Girls‘ drummer Darren Weiss. Head there to grab the lead single “Halloween To Me“. Sounds like Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade) fronting the Walkmen.

Here’s a video behind the scenes of the Arkells video “Whistleblower”. Don’t worry, its not really a pyramid scheme.

Quite enjoying TV Girl‘s Benny and the Jets four song EP over at the Blue Walrus. “Smooth 60s soul influenced summer jams that should be the soundtrack to your sunshine”, grab it for free here.
Seems as if I’m still dealing with technical problems on indie music filter. You’ll notice a hell of a bunch of my posts include weird characters (ie. a question mark in a black diamond), which I think I know how to fix. Also, last weeks issues made my twitter feed go nuts. Sorry if it looked like I was being overly keen on new music, I didn’t mean to clog anyone’s stream. In the meantime, here’s a whack of different things I’m into online.
-As part of Giant System Chicago, here’s a band called Golden Birthday. Cool video, track and bandname (mine was my 19th).

–Two new videos of The Walkmen (via Stereogum).
–Canada Day celebrations in Toronto with Tragically Hip, Weezer, BSS, Hey Rosetta! and Buck 65.
and now for the remixes:
–Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio redoes “Young Blood” by The Naked and Famous.
–RAC puts a spin on Washed Out’s “New Theory”.
–RAC (Maury) takes on Surfer Blood’s “Take It Easy”
Too many things to point out in successive posts. Perhaps I’m a busy man or I’m getting lazy. You decide.
Swan dive.
–This is how you try to fit Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros around a tiny NPR desk.
–RAC wants you to hear his spin on Tokyo Police Club’s ‘Wait Up (Boots Of Danger)’.

–Download a free Trillwave (Hood vs Miska) mixtape at the Hood Internet.
–Pitchfork Forkcast has a Panda Bear Dilla-esque B-side “Slow Motion”.
