It’s taken me a while to get something down about this band.

This Coast is from somewhere near the middle of Canada, a place called Toronto. The name comes from a Paul Simon song, sounds like a mix between Verve, U2, Smiths, New Order. Building/driving atmospherics made from heavy reverb, offset with the slightly fragile sounding vocals of Benjamin Spurr. Backed by a solid rhythm section.

Check out a couple tracks on the bands myspace page. ‘The Lines Are Cut‘ has this characteristic U2 crescendo, ‘Circles‘ cycles through catchy hooks. There’s also a new track on the band’s homepage with piano (‘Not For Long‘).

They play this saturday in Toronto with The Diableros and In Support Of Living for the OXFAM 4 change fundraiser.
