If I ever find Daughter‘s Elena, Igor or Remi walking around the streets of London, I’m going to hug them and thank them for this track. This new video for ‘Youth’, taken from their debut album ‘If You Leave’, is simple and effective, although I still think that the lyrics are spotlight-stealing in this case. Elena’s voice softly and surreptitiously shoots bullets like “if you’re in love, then you are the lucky one… ’cause most of us are bitter over someone”, and the verses are coloured in nuances of nostalgia, regret, accusation, anger and love – in my view, a perfect blend to illustrate the title. Watch and listen closely and carefully to what could be one of the anthems of a very specific generation.
