LISTEN: “Ain’t No Use” by Matt Woods

I’m enjoying a nice moment on a slow day, listening to Matt Woods with his latest track “Ain’t No Use”.  What have you been listening to this week?

Today has felt like one of the slowest days of the year, almost comparable to Christmas Day. The music industry all seem to be down in Austin for SXSW, and while a piece of my heart still lives there, I’m glad to be in Toronto, enjoying a nice day off from the never-ending onslaught of emails and social media messages asking if I’ve heard a song yet.

It was near the end of 2015 since I’d last featured a track from Matt Woods (“Blue Skies“), but there’s new music on the horizon.  He’s been away recording new music over the last six months, with “Ain’t No Use” being our first listen to his new material. Speaking about the track, the London-via-Cornwall singer-songwriter had to say “There’s a difference between getting over someone, and choosing to move on from them. The track is about accepting that some people will always have a hold over you no matter how much you’d like them not to.”

If you’re reading this and are in Austin right now, why don’t you head over to the Driskill to catch Matt perform tonight, he hits the stage at 9pm. Also worth noting, The Driskill has some of the nicest public washrooms in downtown Austin downtown #sxswproknowledge).
