LISTEN: “New House” by Austin Basham

Texas folk singer-songwriter Austin Basham has released his latest single, “New House,” which premiered via Atwood Magazine yesterday. When asked the meaning behind the track, Austin noted, “To me the lyrics illustrate the idea that love can be hard to accept when you don’t feel worthy of it, but also finding truth in the fact that you can never be deserving of it…like in the line ‘oh what a wonderful lie to be the best one made in your eyes’.”

The Austin native spent the last few years traveling the globe writing music, including several months living in Oslo, Norway while recording his 2016 debut EP “Linton // Oslo EP.” The EP’s standout single, “All Is Well,” currently has over 39 million plays on Spotify alone. “New House” was recorded between Norway, Vancouver and back home in Texas.

Austin Basham is about to join Australian band Hollow Coves on a co-headline tour of the U.S., which launches in Portland, OR on March 28th and will take them through major cities like SF, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago and NYC before wrapping April 13th in D.C. Toronto friends, look for them next month at the Drake.
