I absolutely love this tune from Stockholm synth-pop trio Kate Boy. “Midnight Sun”, in video form below, is a single that’s just a couple weeks old, arriving with news of the album “ONE” (out in November).
I love seeing Kate Boy in the feeds I check, meaning there’s probably a killer new tune or video (that I’m probably going to like). This past week, I noticed the Stockholm trio’s name coming up again, this time on news of a new single called “Open Fire”. I love the juxtaposition between the punchy, off beat, underlying bassline, the layered synths in the chorus, and Kate’s melodic chants.
New music today from Kate Boy, the Stockholm based trio (Kate Akhurst, Hampus Nordgren and Markus Dextegen) who are set to release their debut album Sept. 8th. Here’s the lead single “Self Control”, packed with a dance-fuelled tribal beat, whirling synths and Akhurst’s signature anthemic chant. Take a spin.
Its about time I went back through the site and nailed down those killer tunes, to put them all in one place for you. Here’s Indie Music Filter: Volume 10 (feat. songs by Papa, Small Black, Grouplove, Ghost Beach and many more). Full tracklist and soundcloud player below.
