sirius face the music

Last I updated you on the Sirius: Face The Music Contest was a list of the winning communities that will host these free summer concerts.  After earning the highest average score within their region playing the music trivia game, residents of Telkwa, BC; Sault Ste. Marie, ON; Baie-Comeau, QC; and Sussex NB are lucky to get these summer shows.  Below is the list of when these shows will take place.

(Concert will be held at Fall Fairgrounds in Smithers, BC)

– Broken Social Scene and Bedouin Soundclash
August 17th, 2011
Winning community: Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Essar Centre

– City and Colour with k-os
August 19th, 2011
Winning community: Sussex, NB
(Concert will be held at the Moncton Coliseum)

– Marie-Mai and Alfa Rococo
August 26th, 2011
Winning community: Baie-Comeau, QC
Baie-Comeau Theatre

SiriusXM Canada subscribers and local game participants will be invited to the exclusive concerts. A number of select promotional tickets will be made available to area residents.  Also, the grand prize consisting of a trip for two to attend the concert of the winner’s choice, spending money and a Sirius Satellite Radio with subscription will be awarded to the individual with the highest score. Nine secondary prizes will also be awarded.

Its been a week since we announced the SIRIUS Radio Face The Music Contest, where contestants can use their serious music trivia knowledge for a chance to win an intimate concert in their city.  Which ever city ends up with the highest score will host one of these “big-band-in-a-small-venue” shows and by checking the leaderboard, Hilton Beach, Ontario has amassed a near 1000 point lead over Sault Ste. Marie with 281,507.  Ancaster, Pertrolia and Corruna round out the top 5 in the standings, all over 250,000 points.  Take a look.

Not only am I learning a little bit about Ontario geography, I’m watching my own city (Toronto) drop, currently about 7000 points behind first place (dropping from 30th to 35th place as I wrote this post).  From a couple times through the game myself, I never was able to crack the 25,000 mark, which is directly related to my non-knowledge of anything 80s.  Perhaps thats a city-wide issue?
