Just when one contest ends here at Indie Music Filter, another one begins! Courtesy of Canadian Music Week, I’ve got 3 pairs of wristbands to give away for the festival, happening this year from May 6-10th. How do you enter into this contest? Well, I’ll pick three lucky winners over the course of the next few weeks, AND THE ONLY WAY TO ENTER IS:
e-mail me at chris @ indiemusicfilter dot com with “CMW 2014” in the subject line and your name in the body. No more retweets, likes or shares. I’m going to make you work for this one.

More on Canadian Music Week:
Summer’s festival fever will hit Toronto early this year as CMW (Canadian Music Week) 2014 makes its official move from March to May 6-10. The citywide celebration will offer music fans from near and far the chance to catch more than 1000 acts in a jam-packed week of shows. From some of the year’s best to several of the most anticipated, the initial lineup spans the spectrum of electronic to experimental, indie pop to alternative, punk to hip hop and much more in between.
Bands peforming this year include : M.I.A., City and Colour, Ellie Goulding, Tegan and Sara, Television, Neko Case, The 1975, Walk Off The Earth, Flatbush Zombies, OFF!, The Dodos, The King Khan and BBQ Show, Basecamp, Odesza, No Age, Woods, Cheetah Chrome, Sleepy Suns, Comeback Kid, Breton, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Indian Handcrafts, Jon Batiste, Three O’Clock Train, Cerebral Ballzy, The Organ Thieves, Tasha the Amazon (The Truth), The Nils, Jr Gone Wild, Richard Duguay, Bipolar Sunshine, Elizabeth Rose, The Damn Truth, Tiger Bell, White Hills, Tanika Charles, Maylee Todd, The Dirty Nil, Parade of Lights, Oscar Key Sung, Sean Leon & Daniel Caesar of IXXI, Noname, Gypsy, King Reign, The 6th Letter (Bakers Club) , OSIYM, Roney, and The Wyld are just some of the incredible acts confirmed to perform.
I’m pleased to put up some new music from Canada/UK electronic band New Hands, their first new music since 2012. Premiered on Soft Signal the other day, here’s “Swimming” featuring Spence Newell‘s silhouette against jumpy, VHS-quality projections of footage found from years past.
Craft Spells brand new sophomore album “Nausea” will only be available October 6th, but in the coming months they’re sure to be releasing a few tracks bit by bit. To ease the painful pit of waiting, they’ve just released “Breaking the Angle Against the Tide”. We get the impression the tide has shifted for them too, they’ve gone from lo-fi dream-pop we heard on their debut 3 years ago to a more introspective, somewhat neater sounding spirit. Keep a lookout for this lot and pick up your free download via SoundCloud.
